These rules are subject to change at any time, and are not yet complete.
Section 1--Sorting and Houses
Upon joining the school you must first go to the sorting hat, located in the great hall, and be sorted. To do this you will write a one paragraph description of your characters personality. The sorting hat's decision is final, and is also incapable of being swayed by house preference.
The sorting hat will sort you into one of four houses (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin). Each of these houses has a common room and two dormitories, one for boys and one for girls. These common rooms are protected by passwords which only the headmaster and head of house are authorized to give out. You will begin as a first year, no exceptions will be made.
Each house will have one head of house, chosen by the headmaster at his discretion, do not apply for this position. Each house will also have two prefects, chosen by the head of house in conjunction with the headmaster. These prefects are not to be younger than 5th year when chosen, and their terms will last for no more than three terms.
There will also be one head boy and one head girl. Chosen by the headmaster with the input of all of the heads of house. These students will be in their seventh year and will serve for one term.
The duties of the prefects will include maintaining general order in the common room and dormitories, helping out younger students, assisting the head of house, etc. The duties of the head boy/girl will include maintaining order throughout the castle, assisting the younger students, overseeing the prefects, assisting the heads of house, etc. If any prefect or head boy/girl is caught overstepping his/her boundaries they will be removed of their position and a replacement found.
Section 2--House Points
House points are to be awarded or deducted by the following people: The Headmaster (any amount), any Professor (no more than 50hp), the Head Boy/Girl (25hp), and any prefect (15hp).
In order for one of the people listed above to give or take away house points they must OWL the headmaster with the amount and the house. The Headmaster will then update all of the tallies appropriately. The official tally is posted in the Entrance Hall and a secondary tally is located at the top of the site.
Section 3--Classes
There are two types of classes taught at Hogwarts: Required and Optional. The first, as the name implies, are required to pass your year. The second, also implied, are optional. Each class will be taught by one professor and one professor's assistant. The professor's assistant will be chosen by the professor and will be a student of no younger than seventh year. Once the student graduates he/she may continue to serve as a teachers assistant or resign.
It will be up to the professor's discretion how many lessons are taught per term, but it is required that the professors teach at least three lessons during a given term. It is also up to the professor's discretion how they grade the class, but it is required that each professor submits a OWL style grade to the headmaster for each student in their class.
Section 4--Term
Term will last for three months. At the end of term there will be a one week vacation during which portions of the site may or may not remain open. At the end of this week the next term will commence. If the vacation will last longer than one week ample notice will be given.
In order to advance to your next year you must meet a required grade. You must receive at least an A (acceptable) in all of your required classes, and beginning in your third year, must make an A (acceptable) in two of your optional classes.
In order to pass your fifth year you must, beyond the regular requirements, take your O.W.L exams. These exams will be administered by the Headmaster and will determine which classes you will be required to take in your sixth year.
In order to pass your seventh year you must, beyond the regular requirements, take your N.E.W.T exams. These exams will be administered by the Headmaster and will determine your final grade that will go on your transcript.
After graduation you have two choices. 1) Restart as a first year student 2) Begin life as an adult wizard
